The Global Campfire - One World. Many Songs. One Campfire
Complete these 9 simple steps to add your Scout group's song to The Global Campfire.
- Choose Your Song
As a group, choose one favourite campfire song that represents your Scout group, region or Scouting experience.
- Discover Its Story
Find out what you can about the song: where it comes from, what it means, when you sing it and why it is important to your group.
- Get Ready to Record
Download and open the free Dolby On app. Find a safe, quiet place and position your smartphone or tablet approximately 2β3 metres from the group.
- Test Your Sound
Make a 15β20 second test recording. Listen back and move the device closer or further away until everyone can be heard clearly.
- Record Your Song
Using Dolby On, record the complete song. Leave 3 seconds of silence before and after singing. Listen back and record again if needed.
- Take Your Group Photo
Take a photograph of the participating Scouts, following your local safeguarding and photo-permission requirements. If this is not possible, photograph your Scout flag, badge or another image representing your group.
- Tell Us About Your Song
Record the following information:- Song title
- Scout Group / Troop
- City / Region
- Country
- Date recorded
- Language
- Story/history of the song (50β100 words)
- Why your group chose it
- Check Your Contribution
Make sure you have your final sound recording, photograph and song information, with the appropriate permissions to share them.
- Prepare Your Three Files .
Prepare and name three files using the same details:- Sound: ScoutGroup_Region_Country_SongName
- Picture: ScoutGroup_Region_Country
- Word Document: ScoutGroup_Region_Country_SongName
The Word document should contain all the information from Step 7. Example:
- PrestonScouts_Lancashire_UK_CampfiresBurning.m4a
- PrestonScouts_Lancashire_UK.jpg
- PrestonScouts_Lancashire_UK_CampfiresBurning.docx
Your three files are now ready to upload to The Global Campfire. Your Song. Your Story. Your Place on the Map.
