Democracy is full of powerful symbols, rights, and concepts—but can you draw them?
"Pictionary: Democracy Edition" combines creativity and quick thinking to help scouts explore fundamental democratic values.
Without using words or numbers, teams race against the clock to draw and guess essential civic ideas, sparking conversation on how images and symbols shape democratic communication.
Set-up & Division
Divide participants into two or more teams.
Ensure each team has access to a drawing space (whiteboard, paper, or digital tablet).
Prepare a list or cards with democratic concepts.
Drawing & Guessing
The first player from Team A draws a concept card.
They have 1 minute to draw the concept for their team without using letters, words, or numbers.
If the team guesses correctly within the time limit, they earn 1 point. If not, the turn passes to the next team.
Rotation
Rotate through players until everyone has had a chance to draw at least once (or until time runs out).
Reflection & Debrief
Conclude with a brief reflection discussion (2–3 minutes) using the provided reflection questions to discuss how symbols represent democratic values.
Easier: Use picture hints or give the drawer a choice between two concepts.
Harder: Reduce drawing time to 30 seconds.
