Two-Handed Drawing
Working with others doesn't always mean getting your own way. Sometimes you need to understand another person's intentions, adapt your ideas, compromise and decide when to lead—and when to follow.
Can you do all of that without saying a single word?
This activity specifically explores collaboration, leadership and our ability to welcome ideas that are different from our own.
Find a partner and sit together with one sheet of paper and one pen.
Both of you must hold the same pen at the same time. Your challenge is to draw a person together—but you are not allowed to speak.
You cannot agree beforehand on what the person will look like.
Will they be tall or short? What will they wear? What will their face look like?
Both of you must make these decisions together while drawing.
When your picture is finished, look at your creation and talk about what happened.
Think about when you tried to take control, when you followed your partner and how you managed disagreements without speaking.
